The Ruse Regional Court repealed the sentence imposed on the Romanian TV journalist George Buhnici by the District Court. On 3 December 2004 the district court sentenced the journalist to pay a 500 Euro fine for using a concealed camera to film illegal cigarette trade at the Bulgarian-Romanian border. The trial at the second-instance court was on 7 April 2005. The Regional Court stated that there had procedural violations and returned the case to the district prosecution. The prosecution had not stated on what legal act it based its thesis and had not proved that special technical means and special surveillance means were one and the same. George Buhnici was arrested on 16 November 2004 with a camera hidden
in his glasses and a microphone while he was filming illegal cigarette
trade on the border check-point. |
