On November 5, 2004 the Pazardjik Regional Court sentenced Ahmed Mussa to three years suspended imprisonment with five years probation for propaganda against the constitutionally established order, for incitement of ethnic and religious hatred and for desecration of the Bulgarian flag. The sentence was passed on the ground of preaching of Islam, which the court found to be radical. The case did not prove that Mr. MUssa had advocated violence or acts connected with the violation of the public order. The motives to the verdict have not yet been made public. After they are received by the BHC, the committee will made a detailed analysis. Two BHC observers monitored the trial against Ahmed Mussa. |
