The Council of Europe is ready to stop the monitoring on Bulgaria is the country adopts a new media law. This was stated by the chair of the Monitoring Committee at the Council of Europe, Josette Durrieu, during her meeting with president Georgi Parvanov. The Council of Europe is ready to make a new evaluation of a new radio and television act before it is introduced in the parliamentary media commission.

Josette Durrieu also put another condition for stopping the monitoring over Bulgaria from this year - regional decentralisation at the district level.
