Police officers from the Second district police station in Plovdiv will be given disciplinary punishments for the beating of 22-year-old Boris Daskalov. The check carried out by the Interior Ministry Inspectorate confirmed that the law enforcement officials exceeded their powers.

The police officers Vasil P. and Krasimir C. will probably be dismissed. Their direct supervisor will be reduced in rank. A fourth police officer was also said to have taken part in the beating.

At the end of March Boris Daskalov was called in to the Second Police Station for questioning. He was not permitted to meet with his lawyer. The two police officers started the interrogation, and were later joined by a third officer. Boris Daskalov claims that the policemen made him put his handcuffed arms around his knees. Then they inserted a wooden stick with the inscription "There is no God" under his knees. He was then hung between two chairs and the police started beating him on the heels. A shirt was put in his mouth to stifle the screams. When he lost consciousness, cold water was poured over Daskalov.

Boris Daskalov was released the next day.
