The former police officer Kalin Kjosev was sentenced to five years imprisonment by Sofia City Court for shooting 16-year-old Eleonora Dimitrova. Both sides said they will appeal the decision.

The court ruled that Eleonora was killed unintentionally. Kjosev received the highest prison sentence for the crime. He was acquitted on intentional murder committed in a manner, which posed a danger to the life of others. The prosecutor wanted a life sentence on this charge.

Kjosev has been released under bail. He spent 4 months in pre-trial detention.
