excerpts from Duma daily Deputy district governor of Pazardjik Redjep Mollaahmed has not engaged in anti-democratic activities, stated regional prosecutor Rositsa Terzova and terminated the preliminary proceedings against Mollaahmed. They had started earlier this month after his speech on 29 March 2003 in the village of Kornitsa, near Gotse Delchev. With this motive the magistrates turned down the motion to start criminal proceedings since the check at the security unit of the local Police Directorate had not established that Mollaahmed had professed ideas of religious discrimination. According to Duma's own information, the dismissed deputy governor was also investigated for possible links to the radical Islamic organisation Halifat. Regioal prosecutor Rositsa Terzova confirmed that no connections were established between Mollaahmed and Halifat. |
