2 mil leva to be spent on textbooks for Roma children

The Ministry of Education will spend 2 mil leva on textbooks for disadvantaged children, most of which are Roma, stated minster without portfolio Filiz Hjusmenova at the presentation of the action plan adopted by the Bulgarian parliament for the implementation of the Framework Programme for Integration of Minorities. The state budget will give a total of 29 mil leva for its implementation.

Six mil euro will be spent on new building plans and construction of sewerage systems, electrical installations and roads in Roma neighbourhoods. One mil euro from the PHARE Programme will go toward financing the work of 15 GPs in the Roma neighbourhoods in Montana, Vidin, Yambol, Stara Zagora, and Lom. The Interior Ministry will organise 15 courses for training of police officers on work with the Roma community. (Novinar daily)
