Forest guard shoots dead innocent man

A 25-year-old man from the town of Kostenetz was shot dead by a forest guard, the regional police directorate reported. The tragedy tok place on 7 August near Kjustendil.

The 33-year-old forest guard Plamen Nikolov started shooting indiscriminately with his Makarov gun for no apparent reason. One of the bullets shot through the head of Stoyan Lazarov, who had stopped his truck nearby. According to media reports, the guard had been drinking all day.

The guard Plamen Hristov has been charged with murder. According to his supervisor, he was an excellent employee, who had passed the tests for carrying of arms at the Institute of Phychology at the Interior Minsitry.
