Six teenage boys claim that they were ill treated in police custody by the officers on duty at the Kostinbrod Police Station in the early morning on 23 February. The director of the Sofia Regional Police Directorate has ordered an inquiry into the allegations.

The boys were detained during a police raid in the nightclubs in Kostinbrod, near the capital of Sofia. A walkie-talkie was reportedly stolen from a police car belonging to the Sofia Regional Police Directorate while the officers on patrol were buying coffee. The teenagers were detained as suspects since they were reportedly seen near the place of the incident. They were released later on in the day.

Four of the boys have filed complaints against the ill treatment at the Kostinbrod police station.

The Sofia Regional Police Directorate should report to the director of the National Police Department and to the chief secretary of the Interior Ministry by 5 pm on 27 February about the measures taken in connection with the allegations. Chief Secretary Borisov has ordered that the materials on the case are sent to the Military Prosecutor's Office and that the responsible officials from the Kostinbrod Police Station are held responsible.
