Man alleges police ill-treatment

SOFIA, 15 August 2001 - According to press reports, 34-year-old Nikolay Alekov was allegedly beaten with truncheons and kicked by officers from the Third District Police Station in Sofia. The man had been summoned to the police station for questioning regarding several thefts he was suspected of committing. Reportedly he was hit with a truncheon and gun on the knees, elbows and head. |
