SLIVEN, 12 August 2001 - A 35-year-old man of Roma origin was lynched by the inhabitants of the village of Gergevetz, near Sliven, when he was caught stealing from a private cornfield. The owner of the land and friends of his hung a corncob on the man's neck and walked him through the village. Afterwards he was tied to a concrete post in the centre of the village, where he remained throughout the entire day. |
