Close down the care homes for adults with disabilities
424 supporters
Chronic neglect, miserable living conditions, usage of high doses of medication to control behavior all remain routine in institutions for adults with mental health and intellectual disabilities in Bulgaria. For too long we have witnessed severe violations of human rights, inhuman and degrading treatment, and a horrifying lack of care.
Individuals enter such institutions not until improvement, but until their death. Once within the institutional system, they remain there for good.
Refugees deserve protection, not imprisonment
505 supporters
In Bulgaria, in violation of international and domestic legislation, authorities intern asylum-seekers in closed police institutions, depriving them of their most basic human right – the right to freedom.
In 2011, 588 asylum-seeking refugees were confined in police detention centers. 64 of them were children.
This is not simply illegal. It is inhumane. Make a change. Sign this petition.
Your letter will be sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Migration Directorate, Border Police Directorate-General and the State Agency for Refugees.
